Your dentist will provide you with aftercare instructions to clean and protect your mouth \u2013 make sure you diligently follow their advice. Here\u2019s what you\u2019re usually advised to do at home:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Rinse with warm salt water to keep the wound clean, but don\u2019t spit it out! Put your mouth over the sink and simply let the water fall out.<\/li><li>Do not brush, floss, and rinse for an entire day after your wisdom teeth removal.<\/li><li>Gently dab the wound with gauze to absorb any excess blood.<\/li><li>Take it easy for the first day or two after surgery. Avoid doing anything that would dislodge your stitches or blood clot.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Tips for a Speedy Recovery<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>For a speedy and problem-free wisdom tooth recovery, here are some tips you should follow:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Apply a cold compress. <\/strong>Icing your jaw and cheek will help minimize pain, bruising, and swelling.<\/li><li><strong>Take prescribed medication as directed. <\/strong>Make sure you take your prescribed painkillers as instructed and complete your dosage of antibiotics.<\/li><li><strong>Watch your diet. <\/strong>Stick to a diet of pureed and soft foods for the first few days following surgery.
